Here are the bios of the judges

Judy Pumfrey

Judith Pumfrey is a contemporary American Impressionist well known for the light and color qualities that permeate her work. A gifted painter, Judy's special love is painting people engaged in the everyday activities of life; her challenge is to capture these moments and make them extraordinary.

She has been featured in the September '07 issue of the Artists' Magazine and has exhibited in many prestigious exhibitions such as 'Studio Works' at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art, The 'Cape Ann Masters' exhibit at the Old Lyme Arts Association in Old Lyme Connecticut, Paint the Town in St Petersburg , Florida and numerous others.

Her paintings have been recognized with numerous awards including the Grand Prize in the Masterpiece Elite Salon, the Charlotte and Alfred Movalli Memorial Award, the Edina Pepper Achievement Award and the Frank and Mary Cassidy Memorial Award among many others

Judith belongs to many professional organizations including the North Shore Arts Association in Gloucester MA , the Portrait Society of America and High Street Painters , Brattleboro, Vermont. A sought after teacher, juror and demonstrator; her work graces private and corporate collections worldwide.

Judy shares her life and her passion for art with her husband, the painter Lawrence Pumfrey. They enjoy the opportunities of a common interest and share painting and teaching together. Their six children and 14 grandchildren fill their lives and provide the inspiration for many of Judy's paintings.

Larry Pumfrey

A painter of landscapes and portraits seriously since 1976, Larry is a painter in oil, acrylic, and watercolor with a special interest is in coastal harbor scenes and people actively enjoying their environment. His challenge is to paint what he feels rather than what he knows, not the subject matter itself but the colorful patterns of light and shadow that nature offers.

Larry is a sought after juror, workshop instructor and demonstrator. He studied with Boston School painters; David Curtis, Robert Douglas Hunter and Robert Cormier and with nationally known plein-air masters. He has a keen interest in the evolution of painters who continue to inspire him; J. F. Carlson, Edgar Paine, Sergei Bongart, Nicolai Fechin and contemporary painters who were influenced by the French and Russian impressionists

Larry shares his life and passion for art with his wife Judy. They enjoy the opportunities of a common interest and share painting, teaching and demonstrating art together. They particularly enjoy discussing art theory and books by artists that inspire them and promote ideas for seeing and feeling the visual qualities of an Image.
